It doesn’t seem very complicated to sell a car, but there is more to it than meets the eye. Car Sales Starting Out
Most car sales people started in the car business without a clue to what it takes to sell cars professionally and in very little time they have been able to enjoy a career that pays them quite handsomely. They didn’t go to college or a trade school to learn the business; they got a job at a car dealership and received the car sales for beginners training at the dealership.
In only a couple of days after being hired they were taught the basic car sales training techniques and started selling cars. It starts out with the Meet and Greet and moves through the 8 or 10 steps that a dealer uses to sell automobiles. It includes selecting a vehicle, showing the vehicles, going for a road test and presenting numbers to your customer. You will then move into negotiation and delivery. Before long you can enjoy the opportunities and financial rewards that many careers require months or years to achieve. In a matter of months you could be earning a six-figure income yourself, all without going to college for four years and getting a degree. However selling cars for a living is not for everyone. After you get used to your new job as a car salesman you will need to start learning your product including makes, models, trim levels and options. Then you will need to expand your sales skills even further by learning some car sales referral techniques and prospecting methods.
None of these things are very difficult, but you will need to maintain a positive attitude and get past the first 90 days or so before you can start feeling comfortable. One of the drawbacks of being beginning car salesman is getting paid on commission, which scares some people, but it shouldn’t. Just like any other job, if you don’t follow instructions and do what is expected of you success can be yours. If you don’t do as your car sales training has taught you your commissions may cause you to have second thoughts.
A car sales career can be fantastic and so can the income, but your first few months is when car sales for beginners shows your true colors. Give it time and keep your head in the game along with a positive attitude and it will come. For some it will take a couple months and for other it may take 6 months, but selling cars can be a great career if you persevere.
